Welcome back to the Purpose Collective Podcast. This is the second episode of The Summer Edit series.
The Summer Edit allows me to take a bit of a break from teaching and interviewing. If you missed the first episode, it was about spiritual maintenance and my approach to it.
In this episode of the series, I want to share something that I know will be beneficial.
My pastors preached a series called Limitless and it’s life changing if you really believe and apply it. One of the topics they covered during the series is a concept that I’ve been meaning to share with you for a couple years lol, so after church that Sunday I went ahead and put the episode on the calendar lol. Nevermind the fact that I’ve pushed it back a few times. It’s here now.
I took really detailed notes to share them with you in this episode along with some of my take on it.

Facts
Facts are physical, natural realities. They limit us. They are a product of the natural world and the natural world has limits to it.
A great definition he gave during the message is that facts are circumstantial evidence. It’s what we determine to be real by our senses. I love this definition because it speaks to the lawyer in me. Back when I was a criminal prosecutor, I would have a good amount of cases that were based on circumstantial evidence.
Lawyers don’t typically like prosecuting cases based on circumstantial evidence because it requires too many mental hurdles for the jury to wrap their mind around in order to conclude, beyond a reasonable doubt, that a person is guilty of the crime they’ve been accused of.
Facts, by definition, are indisputable. They’re undeniable. It’s a fact that the …
But here’s the tricky thing about facts. They are subject to interpretation. You get to choose how you will interpret the facts.
Because you get to choose how you will interpret the facts, it’s possible for your interpretation of the facts to not be anchored in the truth.
Truth
Truth is spiritual. It’s a divine reality. The truth is God’s word. You are who God says you are. You have what God says you have. You can do what God says you can do. Sure, you may not be experiencing it right now, but that doesn’t change the truth.
Doesn’t matter that you don’t feel like you can do it. It literally does not matter how you feel. We’re talking about the truth.
If someone would have asked me an hour before the first time I did deliverance if I thought I could do it, I probably would have said I wasn’t ready because I felt like I wasn’t able to actually do it. But I did it.
That’s just how much what we feel does not matter when it comes to things of the spirit. We be wrong!
Truth is not...
Truth is not denial. Faith is not denial. We don’t deny the facts. Denial is the refusal to admit the existence of a realty, which is not what we’re talking about.
The Problem with Facts
- Facts limit us to societal, statistical, and stereotypical barriers and boundaries
- They are a product of the natural world and the natural world has limits
- We’re always going to be confronted with two different types of information. The facts are never going to go away as long as we live this life.
The Power of Truth
- Truth has the power to take you out from under the jurisdiction of facts.
- Truth is from another world and in that other world there are no limits
- Decide that the facts will not govern my life and believe in the truth
Always remember that you have a choice. Whenever you are presented with some facts, you will always have the option to go with truth; divine spiritual realities. You are never powerless.
He ended the message by highlighting our biggest problem.
Our biggest problem is not the devil. It’s not even the facts. Our biggest problem is that we have facts and truth we’re choosing the facts.
You can fight the facts with the truth. The truth is in God’s word.
