On a prior episode of the show titled The Purpose of Exposure, I spoke a bit about how an educator, one of my teachers, really changed the trajectory of my life. She exposed me to new and complex things that opened my mind and world to new possibilities, which is a purpose of education.
On this episode of the show, I’m chatting with Jennifer Lemaitre, a woman thriving in her purpose. Jennifer is an exceptional educator who after a huge let down, was able to pivot in her purpose and make even more of an impact serving more students on her own terms

Jennifer is the founder and Lead Tutor of Growing Exceptional Minds Tutoring, which is also known as GEM Tutoring. She graduated magna cum laude from Georgia State University with a dual degree in Early Childhood and Special Education. She has been teaching for almost 10 years and is certified to teach K-12. She is also an Orton-Gillingham trained tutor and has been using a structured literacy approach for over 2 years.
As an experienced teacher, she recognizes that each child is different and needs their learning styles catered to. In a classroom setting, it’s challenging to access each learner. In response to this problem, G.E.M. Tutoring was born.
