Every time me or someone else talks about denouncing fraternities and sororities, the same comments and questions always come up. Questions like — ‘Why would God tell me to leave something He allowed me to join?’ or ‘It’s just a service organization, what’s so wrong with it?’
I get it — I used to ask those same questions myself.
For many people, these organizations aren’t just social groups — they’re tied to identity, legacy, and even purpose. So when God starts tugging on your heart to come out, it can feel confusing, isolating, and even unnecessary.
But here’s the truth: when you start to see these questions through a spiritual lens instead of a social one, everything changes.
Today, I’m breaking down the five most common questions and rebuttals people have about denouncing — and we’re going to look at them through the lens of Scripture, truth, and spiritual discernment.
Because at the end of the day, this conversation isn’t about organizations — it’s about obedience. And obedience will always reveal where your allegiance really lies.

Questions
Let’s look at some of the top questions I am asked or that I have seen about renouncing and denouncing.
1. Why would God let me join.
I have seen a few versions of this question. One version is why would God let me join something that isn’t of him. Another version is “why would God let me join something that isn’t of him after I prayed and asked him to block it if he didn’t want me to do it.”
God allows many things that He never approves of. His permissive will allows for human choice, but His perfect will demands obedience.
Just because something was allowed does not mean it was ordained.
For those who prayed and asked God to block the path, I don’t know what you still had an open door and path to join but here is what I do know. Not every prayer reaches heaven and every answer that God sends does not make it to the person praying. This is a hard concept for some people to understand. Here’s the simplest way I can share this.
God turns His face from those in sin.
The prophet Isaiah in Isaiah 59:1-2, CSB lays this out when he says, “Indeed, the Lord’s arm is not too weak to save, and his ear is not too deaf to hear. But your iniquities are separating you from your God, and your sins have hidden his face from you so that he does not listen.
We see an example of God not listening to those who are in sin in Psalm 66:18, AMP when the psalmist says, “If I regard sin and baseness in my heart [that is, if I know it is there and do nothing about it], The Lord will not hear [me].
John 9:31, CSB brings it further saying, “We know that God doesn’t listen to sinners, but if anyone is God-fearing and does his will, he listens to him.”
God brings this home through His prophet Isaiah when He says in Isaiah 1:15, CSB “When you spread out your hands in prayer, I will refuse to look at you; even if you offer countless prayers, I will not listen.”
Another reason why someone’s prayers may go unanswered is because of demonic opposition. It isn’t that God isn’t stronger than the opposition, it’s that the person’s altar to God is weak and the demonic activity around them prevents the messenger angel from getting through. Daniel 10 paints a vivid picture of how an angel was opposed and held up for 21 days by a demonic principality. There’s a lot more I can say here but I’m going to leave it at that.
The next question is about relationships which is one of the main themes in the questions I receive.
2. Did you receive any backlash after denouncing?
People tend to ask me one of the following questions. They will either ask if I received any backlash after I denounced or they will ask if I still have a relationship with my former linesisters or people I knew from the organization.
I hate these questions because as a follower of Jesus, we already know that there will be persecution. God’s Word tells us this in John 15:18-20, CSB. It says, “If the world hates you, understand that it hated me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own. However, because you are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of it, the world hates you. Remember the word I spoke to you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you.” James 4:4 goes even further and says, “don’t you know that friendship with the world means enmity against God? Therefore, anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God.”

But to answer this question, I have no idea if I received any real backlash after I denounced. The only person who said anything to me directly, was a former linesister who did not like the fact that I was going to speak out publicly about it and didn’t mention it to her when I gave her the heads up about it. This was a big deal for her because I was supposed to stay with her when I traveled to her city the following month.
Her exact words were, “it doesn’t sit right with me to host someone who would choose to publicly renounce the organization, that the majority of everyday people (and I’m sure your followers) don’t know you are in. It feels manufactured for clout, which are actions of people I don’t engage with.”
From a worldly perspective based on logic and reasoning, she makes sense. But that perspective makes no room for God and what it looks like to be obedient to Him. A lot of what God requires makes no sense to the carnal mind. She had no idea that God had a plan to deliver hundreds of people through my testimony regardless of whether anyone knew I was in the organization or not. Although she basically called me a clout chaser, I responded with kindness and we never spoke again.
There were some other people who know me from college made some general posts about denouncers.
One post said, “I’m denouncing my membership to fraternity/soroity to improve my relationship with God.” Signed, “a bunch of losers.” The author of this post has no idea how much trouble he is in for this post if he does not repent.
Another post said, “I have not written on this FB in ages, but this absolutely suits this audience. If you denounce your D9 organization, you’re a loser. You’ve been a loser and just had some letters.
If you are idolizing your organization, it’s because you’re a loser and you had nothing else so it automatically became number 1. Shift your priorities and put God first. It’s not hard.
When your organization brings you glory and popularity that you’ve never had, it’s easy to prioritize it. If you had a life before them letters, it’s easy to properly order your priorities.
I guarantee you in the early 1900s your founders did not even know what satanic rituals were, let alone add them to their new organization’s secret meetings. Be so for real.”
Witchcraft is as old as the Garden of Eden and satanic rituals are as old as humanity, so I’m not sure how they can guarantee the founders of fraternities and sororities didn’t embed them in the rituals of each organization. Even if they didn’t know, the fact remains that they are in there so someone added them.
Anyway, I can’t say that either of these posts were specifically targeted at me because they were well after I denounced. They could be lumping me into their posts but who knows.
This is all the backlash I can report. Let’s look at the next question.
3. How is being in a fraternity or sorority amount to worshipping another god?
In order to answer this we have to get an understanding of what God deems to be worship. Let’s start with one of the Hebrew words used for worship in the Bible. See Judges 3:6. The Hebrew word, abad, means “to work,” and “to serve.” It also means to serve as subjects and “to work for another.” This means that the service we do in furtherance of something, can qualify as worship. This makes sense because the work we do at church in whatever capacity we serve is really done in worship to God.
The Greek word used for worship in the Bible is the word proskyneo (pros-koo-nay-oh). See John 4:24. This form of worship is accomplished by kneeling to do homage. It’s also accomplished with a movement of the body that is made in token of respect or submission like bowing.
Now that we have God’s working definitions of worship, let’s break down how each organization requires members to perform acts of worship to entities other than God.
First, each organization has a false god attached to it. I know we have been taught that these are mythological creatures and beings but the truth is that these are demonic entities that actually exist in the earth. If you operate in the ministry of deliverance, then you already know the type of stuff we encounter during sessions—mermaid spirits, spirit spouses, Allah, Minerva. Hades is in Greek mythology but we see in Revelation 6:8 that he’s also a real being.
“And I looked, and behold, a pale horse! And its rider’s name was Death, and Hades followed him. And they were given authority over a fourth of the earth, to kill with sword and with famine and with pestilence and by wild beasts of the earth. Revelation 6:8, ESV
When you sit back and think about it, it really makes sense that Satan would have us programmed to think that these things are mythical because if we see them as fake, then we won’t confront them for what they really are. I never faced direct opposition and confrontation from Satan and his kingdom until I began to confront him and his operations in deliverance and spiritual warfare back in March 2023 the first time I did deliverance. After that, Satan launched an all out frontal assault on me for months that resulted in Satan directly confronting me himself in June of 2024. Humans believing that these beings are mythical is just another part of Satan’s operation to deceive humanity.
So let’s look at the gods connected to each organization.
- Alpha. The false gods connected to Alpha Phi Alpha are the Sphinx
- AKA. Next is Alpha Kappa Alpha. They have the Greek god Atlas on their coat of arms or crest. The god Themis is mentioned in their rituals.
- Kappa. The Kappas make reference to Apollo and Ares in their rituals.
- Omega. The false gods that have been connected to Omega Psi Phi are Anubis, which is the Egyptian god of the dead, and to Shekinah which is also known as Asherah.
I also know of another spirit that is embedded in Omega and it was discovered when one of my homegirls taught on idolatry at her church in Tallahassee.
A young man was lingering after the service and he began manifesting a demon. He was barking, singing Omega songs, and he pissed on the floor of the sanctuary. When she and another minister confronted the spirit in the man, the spirit identified itself as the spirit of Omega.
- Delta. The god connected to Delta is Minerva. The people who initiate new members into the sorority are called the Minerva Circle, Minerva is in their rituals, and on their crest.
- Sigma. The sigmas used to have Athena in their rituals but I think they have since removed direct reference to her. They have also been linked to Horus, the Egyptian god of the sky.
- Zeta. The Zetas and Sigmas are constitutionally bound so the gods connected to Phi Beta Sigma are also linked to them. However, they do have an indirect connection to Bestat and the gnostic being Archon is the name of the sorority’s official magazine. Archon is usually used to reference a ruler or governor in Gnosticism. They are often described as demonic, spiritual jailers who bind human souls to the material realm and prevent them from achieving salvation. Now why would they name their magazine this?
- SGRho. The false god connected to Sigma Gamma Who is the Roman goddess Aurora who is mentioned in their rituals.
- Iota. The Iotas have the Centaur connected to them.
Now we can get back to worship. Here’s a reminder of our working definition of what God qualifies as worship. Worship means to work, to serve, to work for another. It’s accomplished by kneeling to show homage or by a movement of the body that is made in token of respect or submission like bowing.
I know someone is going to try to draw out the extreme version of these acts and say, well we work at our jobs. Is that not considered worship??
Here’s the thing, you don’t have to bow before a demonic spirit, principality, or false god in order to serve it. The service of the spirit occurs when you intentionally commit acts that serve their agenda whether you are aware that you are serving their agenda or not. This is a spiritual truth that I was confronted with when I began to operate in deliverance and started casting out demons. A demon of lust enters when we lust. Adultery enters when a person commits adultery. They have served the agenda of the demon and now that demon has access to enter their body and stay there forever until they are forced out.
When it comes to higher ranking demonic powers like principalities and false gods, the concept is the same. Molech requires the sacrifice of children, so every time someone gets an abortion, they are serving this false god with a sacrifice. And instead of Molech entering that person’s body, it slowly gains authority over the territory where the sacrifice is happening. False gods and principalities don’t need to indwell a human body because they have spiritual bodies, unlike demons who do not have spiritual bodies.
So let’s look at each organization’s rituals to see where they have done acts that God sees as worship. I’m going to start with the oldest organization and end with the most recently found org which is Iota Phi Theta. You’re going to notice that the idol worship in the first four organizations is more obvious than the latter orgs. In fact, I feel like the worship is hidden more and more as each org is founded. We like to think that these organizations are different but they are all the same in the eyes of God.
● Alpha
Alright, up first is Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity. Their initiation ritual says the candidate for initiation, “shall kneel and eat the food prepared by the gods for ALPHA PHI ALPHA.”
This is the most obvious example in a ritual we’ll see. These men are kneeling on the ground eating food prepared for them by demonic entities. That’s what the Sphinx, Ra, and Horus are. These are the gods of Alpha.
Now the food they eat in the natural world is just regular food the members picked up from the store but because this is an initiation ritual with false gods involved, the food carries the weight of whatever the members of the organization say that it symbolizes. Period. Our words have power.
Not only that, but the eating of food can be deeply spiritual if the food is dedicated or consecrated as such. Food has the ability to establish and renew spiritual covenants. Think about it. What are we doing when we partake in communion?
● AKA
Next is Alpha Kappa Alpha. For context, the women who are seeking membership in the organization are all dressed in black or white, standing in a semi-circle around an altar. They call it a table but it’s really a spiritual altar. Once the Holy Spirit began to teach me about altars and lead me to different teachings on them, it’s a lot easier to spot an altar.
I have an entire series on altars that I will link to in the episode description, but here’s a quick breakdown of what is needed in order for something to be considered a spiritual altar with power to interface with the spirit realm.
In its most basic form, an altar is a place of exchange. It’s where the physical world interacts with the spiritual realm. Every altar must have a priest, a sacrifice, and a governing spirit. The priest is the person or persons who operate as the legal administrator and facilitator of the activities of the altar.
The activities of an altar consist of 1) the rituals done at the altar because the whole point of rituals is to summon a spirit, and 2) sacrifices that are given to the governing spirit in exchange for something. These are the spiritual transactions that determine how the spirit governing that altar responds.
The spirit that governs is the one who accepts the rituals and offerings provided. Each spirit has a certain requirement in order for it to respond. Molech requires child sacrifices, Mammon requires the love of money, Aphrodite who is also known as Ishtar requires sexual immorality, etc. Members of fraternities and sororities can say all they want that they are serving God with their actions in these organizations, but the truth is that the rituals and sacrifices every member makes in order to join are not what the Holy Spirit responds to.
When it comes to the three necessary components of an altar, AKA has all three of these present. The priests are the members servicing that altar and bringing it sacrifices. The women seeking membership are the sacrifice being offered to the governing spirit who is Atlas. That is who is on their coat of arms, not Jesus or God. In fact, God and Jesus are nowhere to be found on this altar.
Here’s the thing, even if something representing God, like say a Bible, was present in some capacity, because a good number of these organizations like to have the Holy Bible on their altars. But even if something representing God was present, the mere presence of the false god Atlas makes this an illegitimate altar to God. He will not respond to this altar to bless the people or activities.
Alright, getting back to what’s on the altar, they have pink and green candles, a pledge book before a centerpiece of tea roses where each candidate has to write their name, and sometimes there is a pot of ivy. There is also a huge white candle that represents one of their founders, Ethel Helgeman Lyle, sometimes there is a picture of her, and their coat of arms, remember this is where they have the false god Atlas.
While all of this is set up, the women seeking membership into AKA all say, “To our Founders, we bow,” and they then bow their heads.
The part of the ceremony after that focuses on obedience. During this portion, the President of the chapter says to them, “Are you willing to be submissive and in every way subjugate yourself to the highest authority?” After the women answer in the affirmative, the president then asks what proof they have.
These women then say, “I show my submission by kneeling.” They kneel for a few minutes in complete silence.
I think we can brush past this if we don’t really sit and think about this, but when have you EVER kneeled down to the ground on both of your knees for something other than prayer to your God, which is a form of worship by the way? Seriously think about it. When have you done it? And you have done it, it probably wasn’t while pledging your life to an organization that has an altar to a false god.
● Kappa
Kappa Alpha Psi ritual says that the Polemarch, which is the president, MAKES each candidate for membership in the organization KNEEL in front of the altar and give the oath.
The altar it speaks of is listed in the ritual as well. The Kappa ritual says the Sacred Delphine Shrine (the Altar of Kappa Alpha Psi) is in the center of the room. They go right ahead and call their ceremonial table what it is, which is an altar and they connect their altar to the Greek god Apollo.
The Delphine Shrine is a sanctuary dedicated to the Greek god Apollo. The ritual even incorporates a part in the process where it explicitly mentions the god Apollo and those who worship at his shrine, which appears to be a reference to the members of Kappa, establishing that this god comes to their defense.
The altar is covered with a crimson and cream cover. On it the Holy Bible is opened to Proverbs, ch. 3. So the president is making the men who want to join kneel at the altar of this demonic being, while pledging an oath to the organization.
This is worship.
● Omega
The Ques make each candidate kneel on both knees and place their left hand on the Bible and raise their right hand towards the heavens as they say their oath.
● Delta
The Deltas say that kneeling is optional but I don’t know anyone who hasn’t kneeled. Because it is a part of the process I have never heard of anyone opting out of it. But the candidates seeking membership into this organization kneel and claps their hands around a candle that represents Minerva, the false god that responds to their altar. They even make the candidate acknowledge that they are doing this ritual in Minerva’s presence.
Why would God accept this?
● Sigma
The Sigmas kneel in front of their altar during one of the rituals.
● Zeta
The Zetas kneel and place one hand over their heart.
● SGRho
SGRhos kneel down before the presiding officer while placing both of their hands on the Bible.
When God’s word says in Judges 3:7; 12 that the Israelites did what was evil in the Lord’s sight, please know that all of this stuff I just highlighted to you in these rituals are what the Israelites were doing.
Fraternities and sororities require their members to do what is evil in the Lord’s sight.
I know people like to say well if we’re worshipping Greek gods just by being in these organizations then why aren’t people renouncing and denouncing Nike, Hermes, and what about the oaths doctors and lawyers take. I hope you can see the difference here. People aren’t physically kneeling down at an altar erected to Nike and Hermes after doing demonic witchcraft rituals to them and pledging their lives to serving the Nike or Hermes agenda. All they did was buy an item of clothing or an accessory. Same thing with oaths, doctors and lawyers and other professionals are merely agreeing to do their jobs.
4. What about all the good they do for the community?
If God is against these organizations, which He is, then the good they do doesn’t really matter now does it?
Think about it like this. Remember the movie American Gangster where Denzel Washington played the famous Harlem drug dealer Frank Lucas? Frank Lucas used to give out free turkeys and toys in Harlem during the holidays, he paid to send multiple people to college, and he paid people’s rent every month. But he was pumping the Black community full of poison. At the height of his drug enterprise, he was said to be worth $52 million. If the means, which is selling drugs, is how he got to the end of funding all of his philanthropic endeavors, then the means don’t justify the end.
No act of service can redeem a wrong covenant. The good works you’ve done were through you — not because of the organization’s power. God keeps record of righteous deeds done with pure motives, not those bound by allegiance to another altar. Did you know God has to actually choose to receive your sacrifice and worship?

- See Jeremiah 5:19-20
5. But there are prominent pastors in these organizations, how can they be demonic?
And then there’s the question I hear the most — ‘But there are prominent pastors, bishops, and church leaders in these organizations… how can they be demonic?’
That’s a heavy one — and it deserves its own space, because the answer isn’t simple. It’s layered. It’s spiritual. And honestly, it exposes something much deeper about leadership, deception, and influence in the Body of Christ.
So we’re going to unpack that in the next video — where I’ll break down exactly why so many pastors remain bound, what the enemy gains through their influence, and what Scripture actually says about it.
