Altar vs. Altar: The Next Level of Spiritual Warfare Tactics (2024)

When two altars are operating in the same area, the result of that will be spiritual warfare. This calls for next level spiritual warfare tactics in order to attack the evil altar fighting against you. The Bible has the perfect strategy.

I’m going to shed some light on how to tell when an altar is operating against you, what God says in His word that we should do about evil altars, and how to destroy them.

Spiritual Warfare Tactics Through Altars

We see evil altars mentioned a lot throughout the Bible. They are in the old and new testaments. If we are going to properly address spiritual warfare tactics, we need to really study the thing allowing the attack, which is the altar.

Some time ago I stumbled upon the testimony of a former practicing satanist from Uganda by the name of Erica Mukisa Kimani. Her grandmother initiated her into witchcraft at the age of 8 and when she was around 11 years old she met satan and began working for him and others in the kingdom of darkness. During some of her encounters with him, her spirit was taken to a section of hell and there she saw one of the largest altars that exists. I think you’re going to be shocked when you hear how she describes it, but let’s check out what she has to say.

How to Determine When An Altar Is Operating

Let’s look at a couple ways to tell that an altar is operating in a given situation. This altar could be one that was initiated by you, a family member, or someone doing evil against you.

1. The Need for Repeated Deliverance

A tell tale sign that an altar is operating is when a person has gone through deliverance but the same demonic spirit gains access again and again, despite the person living right.

Remember that the kingdom of darkness operates on legality. They do not have the legal right to do something on this earth unless they have been invited in and if someone is not doing anything to invite the spirit in themselves, then that spirit has access some other kind of way and it’s usually due to an evil covenant operating in their bloodline.

2. Consistent Negativity

Another indicator that an altar may be speaking is if there is a consistency of negativity. If there is a consistency of poverty in your life, every time money comes into your hands something happens that requires you to spend it. If you have been in multiple car accidents or have multiple significant health issues, and you have received deliverance regarding breaking curses, then there is likely a covenant and altar speaking against you.

Destroy Evil Altars

Once we recognize that an evil altar is speaking against us somewhere, the Bible makes it very clear what we are supposed to do to those evil altars. A great place to see God’s instruction is in Exodus 34:13-14, NKJV. He tells the Isaraelities, “Take heed to yourself, lest you make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land where you are going, lest it be a snare in your midst. But you shall destroy their altars, break their sacred pillars, and cut down their wooden images (for you shall worship no other god, for the Lord, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God).”

Another is Deuteronomy 7:5. Here’s what it says:

But thus you shall deal with them: you shall destroy their altars, and break down their sacred pillars, and cut down their wooden images, and burn their carved images with fire.

God specifically advised his children to destroy the evil “ALTARS” they came up against. Did you peep the language He used to describe what He wanted the Israelites to do to the things connected to idolatry—destroy, break down, cut down, and burn with FIRE!” God is not playing about evil altars, but for some reason we don’t take this stuff seriously.

We actually get to see this played out in 1 Kings chapters 12 and 13 with Jeroboam. Jeroboam was an evil king of Israel who became a sorcerer when he got scared that the people he ruled over would turn their allegiance back to the lineage of King David which at this time was his grandson Rehoboam, the King of Judah.

So to make sure that the people didn’t turn to Rehoboam, Jeroboam decided to make two golden calves for the people to worship and he built shrines in the high places of the land. He even appointed priests who were not Levites to service those shrines, which were altars. He offered sacrifices to the calves he made, and in chapter 13 we see him get confronted by a man of God.

Here is what I want to highlight.

Notice that the man of God spoke out against the altar, not the king. He’s prophesying to the spirits behind that altar. Then he commands the altar be ripped apart; in other words he is commanding it be destroyed.

We also see evil altars being destroyed with Gideon in the book of Judges.

Types of Evil Altars

Visually, demonic altars are fairly easy to spot if you know what to look for.

  • High places, steps, pyramids
    • Exodus 20:25-26
    • Jeroboam made shrines on the high places (1 Kings 12:31)
  • In homes, on mantles, usually have candles, food or liquid, picture or object representing a person
  • Tables
    • Picture of someone, candle, crystal

How to Destroy

So let’s take our general knowledge of destroying evil altars and get specific with our spiritual warfare tactics. Here are some things I recommend:

FASTING. Fasting strengthens your spirit for the battle. It helps heighten your spiritual senses because you’re putting your flesh under submission.

Repent!  Leviticus 26:4042 NLT. “But at last my people will confess their sins and the sins of their ancestors for betraying me and being hostile toward me. When I have turned their hostility back on them and brought them to the land of their enemies, then at last their stubborn hearts will be humbled, and they will pay for their sins. Then I will remember my covenant with Jacob and my covenant with Isaac and my covenant with Abraham, and I will remember the land.”. This is one of the only places in the Bible where we see the need to repent for past relatives sins

Follow the 1 Kings 13 model.

Rip apart the altar, wither hand of priest. No need to pray against an altar because an altar doesn’t have the power. It is the spirit behind the altar that needs to be dealt with. Pray that the altar be destroyed and then deal with the spirit. We deal with the spirit behind the altar by breaking the covenants that were made. The covenants allow the spirit to facilitate its evil agenda. Command that the spirits behind those altars be struck with confusion. Minister violence to those spirits and I pray that the priest behind the altar be brought to their knees in repentance because ultimately we want them to come to Christ.

Now, in the next episode. My friend is going to share about her experience discovering an evil altar in her life and how she destroyed it.
