The Purpose of Telling Your Story: Why Storytelling Is So Important?

storytelling

There is power in telling your story. In this episode, I’m talking to one of my favorite storytellers, Diamonde. She is the queen of executing storytelling by video. I love her focus of helping Black women tell their stories.

With nearly ten years of experience in storytelling, content strategy, and video production, Diamonde has been able to help dozens of entrepreneurs, executives and companies tell, sell, and scale their stories through high-quality video. As the Executive Producer & Director at third & wonder production house, Diamonde is responsible for developing, producing, and directing the stories of Black women around the country. She has worked with brands like Essence and Google and she has worked with networks like OWN and TVOne to continue to elevate the stories of Black women,  and this year, she is doubling down on her mission.

Diamonde is a director and a writer and she has come here to tell our stories as Black women. When she talks about storytelling, she isn’t talking about showing up on-camera and just talking—no. She’s talking about creative and engaging, storytelling that will CHANGE LIVES.

The Power of Storytelling

In this episode we covered…
  • Diamonde’s journey of discovering her purpose
  • Why is she so committed to living a life of purpose
  • How she got started with storytelling through TV production
  • The purpose of storytelling and telling your story
  • The commitment she made to help 1000 Black women tell their stories
  • What she believes is the biggest barrier to storytelling
  • How to get started with telling your story

Black women are special. In a world where the messaging has so consistently been, “we aren’t enough,” we still find a way to thrive. And on top of that we now have women like Diamonde whose life’s focus is to help us share our stories.
