Taxes tend to stress folks out. I know they kind of intimidate me. I mean, have you seen the Internal Revenue code? Taxes are something that can be leveraged in order to build wealth if you have the proper tax strategies in place. Think about it, a billion dollar company like Amazon didn’t pay federal income taxes in the U.S. the 2 years between 2016 and 2018.
Not only did they NOT pay taxes, but in 2018, Amazon earned more than $11 billion and thanks to tax credits and deductions, they actually received a federal tax refund of $129 million.
Oh and the year before, Amazon received a $137 million refund from the federal government for 2017.
Doesn’t make sense, does it? This isn’t spoken about often, so I brought in Atiya, the big guns.
