Entering the Courts of Heaven Pt 4: How to Prepare for Trial

The Courts of Heaven is where we remove all legal issues the enemy is using to prevent God from delivering what He has promised His children. One of the chief ways that Satan opposes God’s kingdom is by acting as “the accuser of our brothers and sisters” whom he “accuses…before our God day and night (Rev 12:10). – Pastor Tony Evans

With the Courts of Heaven we are overthrowing the works of the devil that are hindering your purpose, your prosperity, your healing, etc, and dismantling the claims he has against you so that you become who God intended you to be and do what God intended for you to do in furtherance of His kingdom agenda.

The Parable of the Unrighteous Judge

Now Jesus was telling the disciples a parable to make the point that at all times they ought to pray and not give up and lose heart, saying, “In a certain city there was a judge who did not fear God and had no respect for man. There was a [desperate] widow in that city and she kept coming to him and saying, ‘Give me justice and legal protection from my adversary.’

For a time he would not; but later he said to himself, ‘Even though I do not fear God nor respect man, yet because this widow continues to bother me, I will give her justice and legal protection; otherwise by continually coming she [will be an intolerable annoyance and she] will wear me out.’”

Then the Lord said, “Listen to what the unjust judge says! And will not [our just] God defend and avenge His elect [His chosen ones] who cry out to Him day and night? Will He delay [in providing justice] on their behalf? I tell you that He will defend and avenge them quickly…” – Luke 18:1-8, AMP

The widow here...

The widow here was specifically requesting justice and legal protection.  Remember this is an unrighteous judge the widow is going before, and even he did what was good. We serve the true and living God who will do exceedingly and abundantly above all we could ask or think. The God who gave his only son for us!

The Courts of Heaven - Pretrial Matters

So let’s talk about pretrial matters we need to before trial that will assist us in trial. There are two things. First, write down every accusation you think the enemy may have against you so that you can dismantle them one by one. Then, write a list of your requests. This is what I had the participants do when I facilitated the courts so that once we were in court, the proceeding went smoothly. So here’s how to accomplish each of these.

1. Compile Accusations

the Courts of Heaven

The first thing I recommend doing before entering the Courts of Heaven is compiling a list of allegations the enemy may have against you. When I facilitated the Courts of Heaven for the group, I had the participants write every accusation (true or false) that they thought the enemy could have against them. To make this process as easy as possible, we gave them a questionnaire that listed a lot of common accusations. I also encouraged them to add any additional, relevant information.

Here are some potential allegations the enemy may have. This is not an exhaustive list, but it is a good starting point. Ok, this is where you grab your notebook lol.

If you have ever had an abortion, paid for an abortion, deliberately and intentionally caused an abortion, or convinced someone to get an abortion then the enemy could absolutely be calling you a murderer. God commands us not to murder.

Scripture: “Thou shalt not murder.” I actually want to share my personal experience with this one. Exodus 20:13, KJV

If you have debt due to overspending or you don’t tithe or give offerings, then the enemy may be accusing you of lacking good stewardship.

Scripture: “If then you have not been faithful in the unrighteous wealth, who will entrust to you the true riches?” Luke 16:11, ESV

If you have bitterness in your heart towards anyone, resentment, anger, anything like that… then the enemy may be accusing you of not being forgiven.

Scripture: “Your heavenly Father will forgive you if you forgive those who sin against you; but if you refuse to forgive them, he will not forgive you.” Matthew 6:14, TLB

Secret Societies

If you are in a sorority, fraternity, freemasonry, or any other secret society that does rituals and oaths like Jack and Jill and The Links, then the enemy is absolutely accusing you of serving another god. God makes it clear that we shall have no other gods before Him, and that word “before” means together with, beside, in His presence. It doesn’t just mean above in hierarchy.

Scripture: “Thou shalt have no other gods before me.” Exodus 20:3, KJV

New Age Practices

If you have practiced yoga, meditation, reiki, or used sound bowls, worn waist beads, read horoscopes, or identified with zodiac signs, then an accusation the enemy could have against you is that you deny God as the healer and protector of your life.

Scripture: “…for I am the Lord that healeth thee.” Exodus 15:26B, KJV and “…he will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one.” 2 Thessalonians 3:3, NIV

If you have ever played with a ouija board or dungeons and dragons, talked to the dead, gotten a psychic reading, done tarot cards, crystal balls, done voodoo or hoodoo, then an accusation the enemy could likely have against you is that you are a witch.

Scripture: “…For example, never sacrifice your son or daughter as a burnt offering. And do not let your people practice fortune-telling, or use sorcery, or interpret omens, or engage in witchcraft, or cast spells, or function as mediums or psychics, or call forth the spirits of the dead. Anyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord…”

The Lord your God forbids you to do such things. Deuteronomy 18:9-14, NLT

If you are addicted to anything, food, shopping, success, drugs, sex, whatever, then an accusation the enemy could have against you is that you are a lover of fleshy pleasures/desires.

Scripture: “Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.” Galatians 5:19-21, KJV

Sexual sin

If you have ever engaged in fornication, masturbation, homosexuality, beastiality, adultery, prostitution, or sex in your dreams, then the enemy likely is accusing you of sinning against your own body.

Scripture: “Run from sexual sin! No other sin so clearly affects the body as this one does. For sexual immorality is a sin against your own body.” 1 Corinthians 6:18, NIV

If you are arrogant, a perfectionist, overly critical, judgmental, hate asking for help, don’t take constructive criticism well, anything close to this then the enemy can be accusing you of not being humble and giving yourself the glory.

Scripture: “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” James 4:6, NLT

Eye and Ear Gates

This category comes into play if you have ever watched porn, scary movies, listened to music or watched something that talks about sex, drugs, violence, or uses profanity, watched things that have witchcraft or divination in it.

Let me bring this home for you. If you have ever watched Game of Thrones, BMF, Power, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, I Dream of Jeannie, Bewitched, Charmed, The Craft, That’s So Raven, Wizards of Waverly Place, watched or read Harry Potter, then this applies to you. Harry Potter has actual real incantations in it. It’s a HUGE open door for demonic activity.

Scripture: “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” Proverbs 4:23 NIV

Forms of idolatry

If you worshipped other gods like Buddha, Krishna, Muhammad, Allah, Oshun, orishas, whatever;  if you have objects in your home that symbolize other gods, if you have ever celebrated Halloween, then an accusation the enemy can have against you is that you are an idolater and God tells us to flee idolatry.

Scripture: “Therefore, my dear friends, flee from idolatry.” 1 Corinthians 10:14, NIV

Religiosity and legalism

f you think you are more saved than someone else, if do a lot of works and follow rules to keep your salvation. If you treat God’s laws as divine, if when you don’t pray or read your Bible a lot, you don’t feel like you have done enough for God, then the enemy could be accusing you of holding tight to the traditions of men and being legalistic.

Scripture: “For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do.” Mark 7:8, KJV

If you were born out of wedlock, wasn’t raised by one or both of your parents then the enemy could be accusing you of being illegitimate.

Scripture: “If a person is illegitimate by birth, neither he nor his descendants for ten generations may be admitted to the assembly of the Lord.” Deuteronomy 23:2, NLT

2. Make Your Requests

Now that we have handled the accusations the enemy could possibly be bringing against you in the Courts of Heaven, it is time for you to write your requests. If there are specific things that you feel like have been held up in the spirit realm, this is where you request things move in your favor. Be specific and write it down.

So, during this pretrial prep, you want to take what is being held up for you and mix it with the word here. If you are experiencing poverty, then here is an example of how you can frame your request:

God, your word says in Deuteronomy 8:18 that “You shall remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you power to get wealth, that he may confirm his covenant that he swore to your fathers, as it is this day.” It also says in Philipians 4:19 that You will supply every need of mine according to Your riches in glory in Christ Jesus. So I ask that you break the cycle of poverty in my life and show me clearly how I can obtain wealth.

Remember by this point in the proceedings you will have already removed the legal rights the enemy has to block this, so you are now praying from a place free and clear of any blockage.

This section is also where you contend for prophetic words you received that have not yet come to pass because that is the word of God as well.
